That was the (partial) headline in the Jakarta Post yesterday..
Apparently, according to "a source close to the police", they have identified the whereabouts of Noordin M. Top, the Malaysian mastermind allegedly behind the recent hotel bombs.
Great, you might think, except the National Police spokesman, Sr. Comr. Ketut Untung Yoga Ana refused to confirm that any operation was taking place in C.....p, saying "any ongoing police investigations were not for public information".
Given that the anti-terrorist squads have been hunting Mr. Top for nigh on four years and are finally getting close, I must agree with their stance. To publish the names of those in the same house as him, and how they got that information is irresponsible.
The National Police chief spokesman, Insp. Gen. Nanan Soekarno, said the police expected the media not to reveal certain details of their investigation, such as where the police are focussing their efforts and who they are targetting as it could disrupt their work.
And that is why I'm not giving the link to the article which does have those details and more.
